Mountain Mint (Pycnanthemum virginianum)

  • a pollinator-magnet for small little creatures such as small native bees, wasps, beetles, smaller butterflies, moths, etc.; a rich source of nectar
  • beautiful light-green, aromatic foliage
  • full sun;  also partial-sun as you would find along a woodland  border
  • prefers moist soil but will tolerate average soil
  • 3 feet tall
  • blooms from the beginning of summer to early autumn
  • zones 4 - 8
  • space 2 feet apart
  • very unique winter interest  as the brownish, relatively-small, rounded seedheads sit atop long slender wiry stems
